NAWMBA at LSU members present Charlotte Murray Pace’s family with $12,912 check.

The 10th Annual—and final—Keep the Pace Race hosted by the National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) at LSU was held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 9 a.m. on LSU’s campus. Despite the cold weather, more than 50 friends, family members and supporters attended the event.

Of the approximately 75 registered participants, 44 ran the 3.125 mile race, while others opted to run virtually from areas in Texas and Mississippi.

As of April 9, 2018, the total raised for the 10th Annual Keep the Pace Race was $11,412 with an additional $1,500 corporate commitment, bringing the total to $12,912—more than double NAWMBA at LSU’s original goal for the event.

Meghan Trahan, NAWMBA at LSU’s Vice President of Philanthropy, played a significant role in planning and executing the Pace Race. Trahan shared, “Keep the Pace Race was one—if not the largest reason—why I ultimately decided to pursue an officer position in NAWMBA. From the first time I heard about the event and Murray’s story during MBA Launch Week, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It was a privilege to work along side those closest to her in planning this event, and I could not be more pleased with the outcome of this year’s race. ”

About Keep the Pace Race
On May 24, 2002, Charlotte Murray Pace—Murray as she was called by those close to her—graduated in the top 10 percent of her Flores MBA class. She was slated to move to Atlanta and begin working for Deloitte following graduation. However, just one week after graduation, she tragically fell victim to Baton Rouge serial killer Derrick Todd Lee.

Following her death, her friends and classmates from the LSU MBA Class of 2002 established theCharlotte Murray Pace Memorial MBA Scholarship Fund as a way to commemorate her life and achievements. Every year since 2008, NAWMBA at LSU has hosted its Annual Keep the Pace Race 5k as a way to pay tribute to Murray and contribute to the scholarship fund in her honor.
